School Council

At Blakenall Heath Junior School we are extremely proud of our School Council team who have been elected democratically by their fellow pupils.

How are the children elected?

At the beginning of each year, elections are held and the children interested in becoming a School Council representative are invited to write and make a speech to the rest of their class. This speech outlines why they feel they would be a good candidate to represent their class in making a difference within our school. A democratic vote is then held and the person with the highest number of votes is elected.

Elections for this academic year have now been held and we are pleased to introduce our School Council representatives for 2024 - 2025.

What is the role of our School Council?

Our School Council members meet regularly in order to act as representatives for their peers. These meetings are in place so that they, and their fellow pupils, have a voice and are involved in decisions about the school that affect them.

What contributions have our School Council made?

Most recently, our School Council members have met and worked together collaboratively to design a 'child friendly' explanation of our school values: Respect, Resilience, Responsibility and Reflection.

The children discussed their own interpretations of what each of these mean and designed a poster which is displayed in every classroom and around school to help support pupils in knowing how to demonstrate our values to the best of their ability.
